What’s a bot?

A bot is an AI service you already use, such as an AI bot or an automation of your own. If it can receive a webhook, Earful can send it your notes. Earful doesn’t create bots. It connects the ones you have, across all your accounts.

How do I add a bot?

1. Tap Connect your bots (or My bots › Add a bot), and give the bot the name you already call it.
2. Tap Send this to your bot, and paste the message into its chat in its own app. The bot tells you where to find its webhook URL and key. If you already have them, tap I already have a URL and key.
3. Paste the URL and the key into Earful, then tap Connect. Earful sends a test. When it gets through, your bot is ready.

Where do I find the key?

In the bot’s own app, where its webhook or automation is set up. Your bot can tell you where to look, step by step.

How do I send a note?

Tap the talk button and start with the bot’s name: "Juno, move my 3pm to Friday." Tap again to send. To cancel, tap ✕ or swipe the card down. If you stop talking for 20 seconds, Earful sends what you said.

Which bot gets my note?

The bot whose name you say first, like "Juno, …" or "Hey Juno, …". You can also end with it ("…, Juno"). If you don’t name a bot, the note goes to your main bot (★). To change your main bot, go to My bots › Main bot.

Can I talk without opening the app?

Yes:

• Widget: add the Earful widget to your Home Screen, then tap a bot to talk to it. Touch and hold your Home Screen › Edit › Add Widget › Earful.
• Action Button: on an iPhone with an Action Button, go to Settings › Action Button › Shortcut › Talk to Earful. Press it to start, and press it again to send.
• Control Center and the Lock Screen: add the Earful control.

While you talk, your words appear on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.

Does Earful work with the Index 01 ring?

Yes. Pair it in Settings › Ways to talk › Index 01 ring. Then hold the ring’s button and talk. Your note goes to a bot just like one from your iPhone.

• Earful isn’t made by or affiliated with Pebble.
• If the Pebble app is also syncing your ring, turn its ring sync off, so the two apps don’t compete for your recordings.

What’s Voice match?

Voice match learns your voice from four short lines you read aloud. Then, if a note doesn’t sound like you, Earful can hold it on your iPhone and ask you before it’s sent. Set it up in Settings › Voice match. It works on your iPhone, and it isn’t a password. To delete your voice, go to Settings › Voice match › My voice and hold Hold to delete my voice. On a new iPhone, set it up again.

My note didn’t arrive. What now?

Earful tells you when something needs you, such as a bot that needs a new key or one Earful couldn’t reach. Open the note and tap ⋯ › Send again. If it still fails, check the bot’s webhook URL and key in My bots › the bot › Webhook.

A ✓ means the bot’s service accepted the note. It doesn’t mean the bot has read it or replied.

I deleted Earful. Where are my bots?

They’re still saved in your iCloud Keychain. Install Earful again and it welcomes you back with them. To remove them instead, choose Start fresh.

Do I need an account?

No. There’s no Earful account and no Earful server.

Is it private?

• Recordings never leave your iPhone.
• Your words go only to the bot you name, and to your iPhone’s own backups.
• Earful turns your voice into words on your iPhone.

What a bot does with your words is up to that bot’s service. Read the full privacy policy.

How do I delete my notes?

Touch and hold a note to delete it. To delete all of them, go to Settings › Privacy and hold Hold to delete all notes. Deleting in Earful doesn’t remove what a bot already received.
